Jeff Kruth is the guy on the left. Jeff is a microwave guru and has
a warehouse of goodies for sale. If I can find a web address for him (Kruth
Microwave Electronics), I will post it. The fellow on the right is Dr.
Benjamin K Malphrus. He is author of a book entitled "The History of
Radio Astronomy and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory: Evolution
Toward Big Science". He, with Jeff's help, has put together a rather impressive
radiotelescope at Morehead State University in Kentucky. Click on Ben's
name to see a picture where he looks a lot less mafioso and a lot more
like George Clooney.
That happy face belongs to Colin Clements who has two years in a row
flown over from the UK for the conference, (though this year he relented
and used an aircraft). Colin has done some nice work with one of
my favorite antennas, the cylindrical paraboloid.
Kerry Smith. Look below to see the beautiful job Kerry did on the SARA
quagi antenna.
Kerry's quagi! Didn't he do a beautiful job on this? This was
demoed with Jim Carroll's SARA receiver design.
Ned Lewis came from across the continent. He is full of enthusiasm
and ideas. I really enjoyed meeting Ned after corresponding for quite a
while with him. He is a computer geek in the health research field.
Geek is good at SARA.
Ken Watts is our new treasurer, though he doesn't look too happy about
it in this picture. Then again any treasurer who looks too happy gets audited.
This soft spoken, southern gentlemanly, sharp as a tack, Charles Osborne.
He's another one of those gigahertzians from Georgia who knows his way
around a spectrum analyzer and can prove it.
Now if my memory serves me, the fellow on the left is Brian Adams. Somebody
correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time I had the pleasure
of meeting him, though my kids used to listen to his records. After
he pulled out this hat, Mike Gingell (right) had us all wondering if we
did the right thing in electing him to our most visible post.
This is Andrea Peace. Some of you who have bought things from Radio-Sky may be familiar with her name. She does all the hard stuff. She's kinda cute too, but don't tell her I said that.
If I misspelled, misidentified, or otherwise screwed any of this up let me know.
