Radio-Sky's Past Newsy Bits....

Things we added in the not too distant past.

12/29/98 The SARA old list serve provider folded. You can get info on how to access the new "emergency" list server here.

11/28/98 Some books and software have gone out of print or are no longer available to us, so be sure to check and see if they are still listed before you order.  We have decided to concentrate on a few products and to produce new books and software when possible.  In the works is a new data collection program with two channel support, a CDROM full of surveys, shareware, and other items of interest to amateur radio astronomers, and a new book Legacy Radio Astronomy for Amateurs. This book concentrates on techniques used in the early years of radio astronomy and how they can be put to use by today's amateurs.  Dick Flagg is also writing a book for us about radio observations of Jupiter.  We are extremely excited about this project! (Note 8/99 Dick is getting close! The Legacy book is not!)

10/28/98 We just added a brief article by Chuck Forster from SARA describing a simple radiotelescope for 12 gHz.

 10/14/98
We have included a magnetograph of the Earth's magnetic field produced by amateur radio astronomer, Eulif Robison, which was made during the recent magnetar event of  8/27/98.

Version 2.1 of Chris Brown's instructive software which appeared in the Nov/Dec 97 SARA Journal is now available. We have in our FTP area under the directory RADIOX. Chris did an absolutely fabulous job in the article relating his exploration of how Fast Fourier Transforms and multiple antenna spacings lead to radio images of celestial objects. Thanks Chris!

We have issued a new file reader (MAXREAD) for A2DMAX, the free software for the three channel data collection interface we have been featuring. There is also an update to the A2DMAX data collection program itself so be sure to check this out.

We recently added a couple of pages for beginners about antennas and receivers for Jupiter so check them out under Free Information.
